This book explains the law in plain English that tells leaders what is allowed instead of emphasizing what is forbidden.
It is divided into ten chapters. The first is an introduction and the final one suggests ways to improve the law. The in-between chapters discuss in detail the eight precepts that summarize the rules nonprofits must follow.
•Keep the mission front and center.
•Govern well.
•Watch the finances.
•Learn the rules about going into business (if you are going to do so).
•Complete the paperwork.
•Treat your friends and colleagues well—just not too well.
•Advocate for your cause.
•Know how to change course.
